Maxi Skirts – Dress for Less ♛

Miley Cyrus in Emilio Pucci Spring 2012 Collection

A new trending item these past few months has been maxi skirts! This long  skirt can be worn what seems to be a million different ways and comes in all shapes, color, sizes and materials. The fast growing look came about as celebrities like Miley Cyrus and Abbey Lee began to incorporate the style into their daily lives. Worn as a comfy alternatives to sweatpants or a formal piece at an award show; it became one of the biggest hits in Hollywood. Its elongating effect the skirt creates is definitely a crowd pleaser.

Soon enough, the world was one board with the renewed statement skirt!

Unfortunately for the crowd, maxi skirts worn by celebrities are hard to get a hold of and can be insanely pricy! Even a plain cotton skirt can cost up to 300 dollars! For example, Miley’s Hunger Games Premiere outfit (cropped bustier top and maxi skirt from designer Emilio Pucci’s Spring 2012 collection) was probably in the thousands(right).

few months back as i began to love the “maxi look” i decided to dig  and find some maxi skirts that were decently priced. I came across some great choices :

River Island Beige Dip Hem Wrap – 34$

Misselfridge split side Maxi Skirt – 38$

YesStyle Smoked-Waist Maxi Skirt – 40.50$

TopShop Dip Dye Maxi Skirt– 64$

Jane Norman Stripe Maxi Skirt – 39$

Not only are the skirts i chose much cheaper alternatives, but with good,                                                                                                         long lasting materials that wont make the maxi a one-time-wear!

You can wear a maxi skirt many different ways. One for example is with a cropped bustier top. This creates a more formal look.It can we worn with a tucked in button down as well.

My favorite way to style a maxi skirt for a casual look involves knotting  one end of a plain, oversized tee, tank or muscle shirt. You lightly tug on the preferred end and loop the extra flap once around your fingers and pull through.

Maxi skirts look best paired with flats or no-heel sandals. I like to pair mine with my Joes suede black ankle wrap flats or my Zara Studded slipper flats.

Hope you can find some cheaper alternatives yourself and rock the Maxi Skirt the way you like it!
